After President Biden, First Lady Tests COVID Positive

Days after US President Joe Biden recovered from COVID, his wife and First Lady Jill Biden has now contracted the virus. According to doctors, she has developed ‘mild’ symptoms of infection.

The first lady tested positive in South Carolina, where she traveled on vacation with the president, who had just recovered from her infection a week earlier. She is experiencing mild symptoms and has been prescribed a course of Pfizer Inc.’s Paxlovid antiviral drugs.

The first lady, 71, will remain at a private residence in South Carolina and return home after receiving two negative Covid tests, according to a statement released Tuesday by the White House.

President Joe Biden tested negative for Covid on an antigen test this morning. Because she is a close contact of the First Lady, she will wear a mask for 10 days when indoors and around others, in line with CDC guidance. The White House said it would also increase the president’s testing and report those results.

He plans to return to Washington and sign the Democrats’ sweeping climate, health care and tax reform legislation. The president is expected to continue to Wilmington to resume his vacation later Tuesday evening.
