Agri platform BigHat launches app in Tamil

Agri-input platform BigHat on Thursday launched its mobile application in Tamil in Coimbatore.

BigHat director and co-founder Sachin Nandwana told Hindu The app plans to reach 10 lakh farmers in Tamil Nadu with local language service.

Farmers can give a missed call on 1800-3000-2434 or login to www.BigHaat.com or download the app from playstore. The mobile app is available in English, Hindu, Telugu and Tamil and will soon be launched in Kannada. Around six lakh farmers from different parts of the country have downloaded the app so far.

BigHat, which raised ₹100 crore in its Series B funding in January and ₹100 crore in debt, plans to focus more on technology development. “We also have offline services and there are 10 clusters in the country where we offer these services. In the next one year, two clusters will be developed in Tamil Nadu and these will focus on the entire agricultural value chain,” he said.

The crop doctor service offered by BigHat is widely used by the farmers. He said the company has entered the export segment for select crops.
