Ahead of Asansol bypolls, TMC MLA tells BJP supporters to ‘Vote at your own risk…’. Watch

The BJP on Tuesday came down heavily on the ruling TMC in West Bengal after an purported video of Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress MLA Naren Chakraborty “threatening” voters of the saffron party ahead of the Asansol Lok Sabha bypolls went viral.

Citing the video, the BJP has alleged that Chakraborty, a TMC MLA from Pandaveshwar, can be seen making “open threats” to BJP voters and supporters ahead of the bypolls. “Those who are staunch BJP supporters, who cannot be influenced, will have to be bullied. Tell them, ‘If you go to vote, we will assume that you will vote for BJP. Then, after the vote, where will you be’ It’s at your own risk. And if you don’t go to vote, we’ll assume you’re supporting us, be well, go about your job or business, we’re with you.” Preparation.

BJP leader and Leader of Opposition in West Bengal Assembly Suvendu Adhikari shared the video on Twitter saying, “Naren Chakraborty; @AITCPandbeswar Official MLA of Vidhan Sabha can be seen issuing decrees to his subordinates; How to stop BJP supporters from voting. Pandabeshwar assembly constituency comes under Asansol Lok Sabha constituency where by-elections are going to be held in about two weeks.

Meanwhile, BJP IT cell chief Amit Malviya also shared the video and asked the Election Commission of India (ECI) to take action against the TMC MLA. “TMC’s Pandaveshwar (Asansol) MLA Naren Chakraborty, openly threatens BJP voters and supporters not to come out and vote, otherwise there will be consequences. Such criminals should be behind bars but in Bengal Mamata Banerjee gives them protection. ECI should take note,” Malviya tweeted.

According to news agency IANS, a BJP delegation will meet the Election Commission this evening demanding action against the TMC MLA, while another BJP delegation will meet the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal.

The bypoll for Asansol was necessitated as Babul Supriyo had resigned as a BJP MP after joining the TMC last September.
