Ahead of Bihar Board exams, BSEB aims to vaccinate over 30 lakh 10th, 12th students

As the Bihar Board has decided to conduct the board exams despite the pandemic, the state government has started the vaccination drive of all the students who appeared in the class 10 and 12 exams. The state government has set a target to vaccinate all board candidates by January 26.

The state health department in a letter has asked district magistrates (DMs) and civil surgeons to form a district-level and block-level task force to guide the COVID-19 vaccine.

The Health Department, while addressing the officials on January 14, asked to vaccinate the students joining the board in the age group of 15 to 18 years on priority basis. Additional Chief Secretary, Health, Pratyaya Amrit told Hindustan Times that a state-wide campaign to vaccinate adolescents is already underway. With a large number of students expected to appear in the state board examinations in the coming months, the state aims to vaccinate students appearing in the eligible age group for the health security of the students.

“Such schools which will achieve 100 per cent vaccination during the special drive will be brought in on the occasion of Republic Day,” Amrit was quoted as saying by HT.

In Bihar, between January 3 and 14, more than 1 lakh students in the age group of 15 to 17 years were vaccinated. A total of 48 vaccination camps have been organized in urban areas to recruit eligible school students. Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh said that vaccination centers are being set up in various private and government schools to facilitate the vaccination of adolescent group.
