Ahead of Holi, Bihar teacher’s music class on English names of colors goes viral

A school teacher in Bihar has come up with a creative way to teach his students the names of different colors in English. This unique class video has been very popular online as the country gears up to celebrate Holi, also known as the festival of colours. Most of us are taught the names of colors when we are in elementary school. But it seems that the task would have been much easier if it had been presented to us in the form of a song. This is exactly what the teacher seems to be doing when giving his lecture.

The video was apparently recorded at a local school in Bihar’s Samastipur. The video shows the teacher, identified as Baidyanath Rajak, standing in front of a blackboard which has the names of seven colors written in English along with Hindi translations. With his cheeks covered with gulal, the teacher starts humming a song, making it easier for all the students to understand the different colours. Towards the end, the camera also pans to his students, who are seen sitting in silence, learning a new lesson from their master.

The videos of his sermons have created a lot of ruckus on social media. The clip was posted online with a Hindi caption that roughly translated as, “Guruji’s Holi course! The video is of the same Samastipur teacher which often goes viral. Singing the names of different colors in English and explaining the meaning in Hindi. There have been many instances in the past when a teacher’s creative teaching techniques won the hearts of many online. In another video, a teacher tries her best to teach her student about the vowels and consonants of the English language.

Popular poet Dr Kumar Vishwas shared this clip with the wish that he too be taught grammar and vocabulary lessons in such an interesting way. The user wrote, “I wish we were taught vowels and consonants by such a music guru.” Watch a glimpse of his rhythmic recitation below:
