New Delhi: All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has extended its collaboration with IIT Guwahati to enhance digital connectivity infrastructure in technical colleges of Northeast India.
As per the new MoU, apart from infrastructure facilities, IIT Guwahati will also provide training facilities on technical proposal writing under various government schemes for technical institutes in the region.
AICTE said the second phase of the project will “facilitate infrastructure for internet connectivity as well as solar power and water supply along with wide coverage of needy institutions”.
TG Sitaram, Director, IIT Guwahati, said, both AICTE and IIT Guwahati have an interest in promoting research, development and quality improvement in the North Eastern Region (NER) of India.
“A coordinated effort between IIT Guwahati and AICTE will enhance the functional efficiency of technical institutions located in remote areas of NER, which will improve the quality of education and capacity building at the grassroots level and transform the lives of common people. of NER. Thanks to AICTE for coming forward to improve the logistics support to the institutions in NER under the special scheme for NER. AICTE is providing financial assistance to AICTE approved institutions in NER to solve water problems in general, providing alternative electricity support, and now providing internet connection in the second phase. This will go a long way in enhancing the functional efficiency of technical institutions located in remote areas of the North East region.”
AICTE chairman Anil D. Sahasrabuddhe said the agreement also aims to “advise technical institutions approved by AICTE under the advice of IIT Guwahati to develop projects for funding in critical areas such as solar energy, water problem and internet connectivity”.
