Air travel will be expensive! Jet fuel hiked by 5%
Aviation turbine fuel (ATF) prices were hiked by 5 per cent, hitting a record high of Rs 1.23 lakh per kiloliter in Delhi, according to state-owned fuel retailers. Jet fuel prices have been increasing since early 2022.
Fuel prices have gone up 61.7 per cent from Rs 72,062 per kl to Rs 1.23 lakh per kl since January this year.
Meanwhile, there has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel for the 40th consecutive day. Fuel prices were last hiked by 80 paise per liter on 6 April.
The hike in the price of jet fuel comes in the backdrop of the sharpest rise of 18.3 per cent (Rs 17,135.63 per kg) on March 16 and 2 per cent (Rs 2,258.54 per kg) on April 1. Rates will likely vary from state to state. For the state, depends on local taxation.
