Set in the golden years of Indian football, the film is the story of Syed Abdul Rahim, who served as the coach-manager of the Indian football team from 1950 until his death in 1963.
The Ajay Devgn-starrer “Maidan” is set to open worldwide on June 3, 2022, the film’s producer Boney Kapoor announced on Thursday.
Based on the golden years of Indian football, the film stars Devgan as Syed Abdul Rahim, who served as the coach and manager of the Indian football team from 1950 until his death in 1963.
Kapoor, who has produced several films including “Mr India”, “No Entry”, “Judaai”, “Wanted” and “Mom”, shared the new release date of “Maidan” on Twitter.
He wrote, “The unknown true story that will make every Indian proud, ‘Maidaan’ will release in cinemas across the world on June 3, 2022.”
Devgn also shared the news on his Twitter handle and said that he is confident that the film will be loved by every Indian.
He tweeted, “‘Maidaan’, a story that will resonate with every Indian, a film that I feel very strongly about. Mark the date on your calendar. Worldwide release on 3rd June 2022 has been.”
Sports play has been postponed several times due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
‘Maidaan’ is directed by Amit Rabindranath Sharma of ‘Badhaai Ho’. Fame from the screenplay by Saivin Quadras and dialogues penned by Ritesh Shah.
Starring Priyamani, Gajraj Rao and Bengali actor Rudranil Ghosh, the film is presented by Zee Studios and Boney Kapoor.
Kapoor is also serving as a producer with Akash Chawla and Arunav Joy Sengupta.
