Alert to Apple Users! Company confirms SIM bug affecting iPhone 14 lineup

New Delhi: Apple has confirmed that its iOS 16 SIM bug is affecting iPhone 14 users. According to a MacRumors report, the tech giant has admitted that the message ‘SIM not supported’ may appear on iPhone 14 series devices. The smartphone may freeze completely after the pop-up message is displayed. The company claimed to have investigated the problem and said there was no hardware issue, advising customers to keep their software updated.

Apple advised users to wait for a while to see if the warning goes away and if it does not then try to recover the device. Earlier, the company had fixed a bug in the iOS 16 update that prevented some customers from activating the new iPhone 14 device. The iOS 16.0.1 update fixes activation or migration issues faced by users of newer iPhones.

The company had sent a memo to customers, stating that “there is a known issue for iOS 16 that could affect the activation of devices on open Wi-Fi networks”. The tech giant said there is no current official fix and support staff “should not make repairs (cases) for this issue”.

In a separate support update, the company said that if you have any problems with Messages or FaceTime after setting up your new iPhone, “update to the latest version of iOS to resolve the issue”.

“iMessage and FaceTime cannot complete activation on iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro. To resolve this, update to the latest version of iOS,” Apple said.
