style
The Mahindra Scorpio-N retains its large, sleek design, though it adds a lot of modern touches. Up front, the new SUV sports Mahindra’s signature grille along with vertical slats, equipped with dual-barrel projector headlamps. The SUV also gets C-shaped LED DRLS, which are placed around the fog lamp housings on either side.
Moving to the sides, the 2022 Scorpio-N gets premium looking diamond cut alloy wheels, which can be sized at 17-inches. There is body cladding at the bottom of the doors along with large wheel arches. The windows are also quite large, which will make the cabin feel airy.
While Mahindra hasn’t revealed the rear-end design of the SUV, spy shots are already doing the rounds of the internet. At the rear, the new Scorpio-N comes with single-piece vertical LED tail lamps, which are mounted upwards. The Scorpio-N retains its side-opening rear doors. There is also a skid plate with a chrome strip running across its width. The new Scorpio-N also gets Mahindra’s new twin-peak logo.
Interior and Features
The cabin of the upcoming Scorpio-N will see drastic changes over the current-gen Scorpio. Spy shots reveal that there is a fairly large infotainment screen with AC vents on either side. The car gets circular dials for automatic climate control as well as a volume knob, which is reminiscent of the current-gen Scorpio.
Other new additions include a new flat-bottom steering wheel, new switchgear, updated center console, a new instrument cluster, and so on. Also, the side-facing third row seats on the current-gen Scorpio will eventually be replaced with a conventional front-facing bench. Also on offer could be two captain chairs in the middle row, of course as a 6-seat layout option.

powertrain
While Mahindra has remained silent about the powertrain of the Scorpio-N, we expect the SUV to borrow the XUV700’s 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and 2.2-litre diesel engines. However, both the engines are likely to be offered in less tune.
Both manual and automatic transmission options will be available with the SUV. Mahindra has also confirmed that the new Scorpio-N will also be offered with an optional 4×4 drivetrain, making it one of the most affordable SUVs in India to be offered with this option.
launch date
Mahindra & Mahindra has confirmed that the new Scorpio-N (Z101) SUV is all set to launch in the Indian market on June 27.
Expected Price and Competitors
The upcoming Scorpio-N will be launched at a base price of around Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom), and will be positioned below the XUV700 in the Mahindra line-up. When launched, the three-row SUV will not have any direct rivals but will certainly take on 5-seat SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushak and Volkswagen Taigun.
