He said that the inner periphery of the strong room is being guarded by the central paramilitary force, the second periphery by the Punjab Armed Police and the outer security cover is being provided to the strong rooms in each assembly constituency by the Punjab Police.
He urged all the political parties/candidates to ensure that their counting agents get their identity cards produced through their respective Returning Officers (ROs). He said that the counting agents should reach the counting center at least one hour before the commencement of the counting of votes. He said that a total of 14 counting tables (7 on each side) would be installed in the counting hall for smooth counting.
He said that the district administration has made elaborate security arrangements at these centers to ensure smooth and hassle-free counting of votes.
He said that CCTV cameras have been installed for round the clock e-surveillance of these strong rooms. He said that all the contesting candidates can depute their representatives to keep a close watch on the security arrangements of the strong room.
On the occasion, he also interacted with representatives of various political parties outside the strong room, who ‘expressed satisfaction’ over the arrangements.
