Ambalappuzha Sangham, a group of pilgrims heading to Sabarimala, began their ritualistic journey from Sri Krishna Temple, Ambalapuzha to Erumeli Petta Thullal and Makara Jyoti Darshan on Thursday.
The group is headed by ‘Samuha Periyon’ N Gopalakrishna Pillai. The head priest of the temple, Kannamangalam Keshavan Nampoothiri, handed over the golden thidambu (the idol of Lord Ayyappa) to Samoha Periyon. A procession was taken out carrying the idol in a specially decorated chariot.
300 devotees
A group of over 300 devotees will visit over 100 temples en route. On their way, the pilgrims will perform Aaji Puja at Manimalkkavu Devi Temple on January 9. The group will reach Erumeli the next day. Petta Thulal will be held on January 11. Pampa Sadya will be held on January 13. The group will perform ‘Nayyabhishek’ at Sabarimala on Makaravilakku day.
