New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has decided to enable webcasting from 100 percent polling stations with internet connectivity, making suitable alternative arrangements for videography and photography in “shadow” areas, where no internet is used.
In a communication for all the main electoral officials in the states and center areas, the ECI also said on Monday, “State-level, district-level and AC (Assembly Construction)-Lavell will have a webcasting monitoring control room, as well as supervised and monitored by a nodal officer appointed at each level.”
While ECI often issues instructions on various measures within election processes, it has now partly modified to decide the previous instructions that “webcasting will be done in all polling stations, ie, 100 percent polling stations with internet connectivity”.

Earlier, this webcast coverage was limited, not available in all polling stations.
The Congress leader brings guidelines amid a quarrel between Rahul Gandhi and ECI after waging widespread rigging in 2024 Maharashtra assembly elections.
According to communication, viewed by Theprint, the nodal officer would be responsible for ensuring smooth functioning and monitoring of webcast footage on polling day, held at least two days ago with a dried run.
Nodal officials will also ensure that all polling stations should be lived live for sufficient period during the day, maintaining close observation of the proceedings, along with the poll day activities are also monitored.
“For this, enough employees must be deployed in the control room,” the ECI said.
For smooth functioning of the monitoring process, ECI will also provide adequate infrastructure for information technology, internet, TV display, mobile phones, technical staff and stationery items with other requirements.
According to the guidelines related to ECI communication, webcasting should not cover the face of the ballot unit and the voter-discourse worthy Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) to preserve the confidentiality of voting.
Earlier this month, Rahul Gandhi called the results of Maharashtra Electrons “brilliantly strange”, which he wrote.
Rahul’s column, match-fixing Maharashtra, Reid, match-fixing Maharashtra, Reid, Match-fixing, match-fixing, “Match-fixing Maharashtra said,” The measure of rigging was so desperate that despite all efforts to hide it, without dependence on any non-source of sources, without dependence on any non-source of sources, it has been revealed to the official figures.
Soon after, the ECI sources called it “strange” that Gandhi sought an answer to his “the same baseless doubt repeatedly” despite the ECI response to the allegations of last year on the Indian National Congress.
ECI, December 2024 and April this year, again reiterated similar allegations by Rahul Gandhi.
ECI sources also said, “It is not clear why Mr. Rahul Gandhi is away from writing the EC and responds to (tinge),” ECI sources have also said.
The decision on Monday communication was “completely independent” of Rahul Gandhi’s allegations, ECI sources have also said that after its announcement on polling station webcasting.
According to sources, “This (Election) is an internal monitoring mechanism for the Commission to monitor the polling station.”
