Calcutta High Court directive, postmortem should be done in Army Command Hospital
The mysterious death of BJP youth wing leader Arjun Chaurasia sparked a fresh controversy in West Bengal on Friday, with Union Home Minister Amit Shah visiting the deceased’s residence terming it a political murder and saying the party would demand a CBI probe. Case. Mr Shah, who is on a two-day visit to West Bengal, said that the Ministry of Home Affairs has sought a report from the West Bengal government on the incident.
Mr. Chaurasia (27), vice-president of BJP’s youth wing in north Kolkata, was found hanging in a deserted railway quarter at Kosipur in north Kolkata during the early hours of the day. BJP leaders accused it of a murder and accused Trinamool Congress supporters of committing the crime. Tension prevailed in Kosipur area and supporters of BJP and Trinamool came face to face. BJP supporters clashed with the police and it took several hours for the police to retrieve the body and send it for post-mortem. According to BJP leaders, when the body was found, the feet were touching the ground and it cannot be a suicide.
CBI probe
The Home Minister, after meeting the family members of the youth leader, alleged that the body was forcibly taken away from his family and even his grandmother was assaulted. “yesterday [May 5] Trinamool government completes one year in power [third consecutive term], and the very next day the culture of political violence and political murder resumed. Wherever we go in Bengal, we have seen many instances of political violence, revenge and targeting of opposition workers,” Mr Shah said. According to the Union Home Minister, in no other state in the country, the High Court has handed over more investigations from the State Police to the CBI than in Bengal in a span of just one year. “This proves that the court has little faith in the police and the law and order situation in the state,” Mr Shah said.
The Trinamool leadership denied the allegations and said the party had nothing to do with the death and the BJP was trying to do politics over the incident. Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, “If they say that Trinamool has anything to do with it, we will also say that a person close to a disgruntled BJP leader to set the stage for a Delhi leader to perform the drama.” was sacrificed.” State cabinet minister Chandrima Bhattacharya said that the way BJP leaders reached the spot and were stopping the administration from doing its work, we wonder whether it was pre-planned.
BJP moves High Court
Meanwhile, the state BJP leadership approached the Calcutta High Court, which directed that the post-mortem of the deceased BJP leader be conducted at the Army Command Hospital in Kolkata in the presence of experts from various hospitals. BJP leader Priyanka Tibrewal, who represented the family in court, said, “The murder should be treated as post-poll violence and should be probed by the CBI.” The court also directed the Kolkata Police to provide security to the family.
“Last year, Arjun and his brother had to leave their house after the assembly election results and I arranged for their return. He [Arjun] He was being threatened and killed by Trinamool supporters as he had to lead a rally to welcome Mr Amit Shah,” Ms Tibrewal said. The High Court had directed a CBI probe into the murder and rape incidents after the assembly elections. The state BJP told its official handle that 57 party supporters were killed in a year.
