Amit Shah holds meeting to select BJP candidates for Gujarat elections

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday chaired a meeting of top Gujarat BJP leaders, including Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, to deliberate on possible candidates. upcoming elections From a panel presented by the supervisors of each district.

Top leaders of the ruling party deliberated on 47 seats in 13 districts. The exercise will continue till Sunday to cover all the 182 assembly seats in the state, for which polling will be held in two phases on December 1 and 5.

On Friday, the party leaders will discuss and discuss the names for 58 seats in 15 districts.

Recently, party observers visited each district to talk to local party workers, ticket candidates and potential candidates and prepared a panel of six-seven names for each seat and submitted their report to the state parliamentary board.

The 38 teams of observers from 33 districts and five major cities of the state included current and former ministers, Members of Parliament (MPs), senior functionaries at national, state and district levels.

According to sources, around 4,000 BJP leaders, workers and candidates have sought tickets for the upcoming assembly elections in Gujarat, which is nearly 1,100 more than the number of people who sought tickets from the BJP in the 2017 assembly elections.

Gujarat BJP president CR Patil told media persons on Sunday, “This shows that the workers are confident of BJP’s victory in the assembly elections.”

According to party sources, during the state parliamentary board meeting, five-six names for each seat are discussed based on the caste and social structure of the seat. Then the board will prepare a panel of two-three names and send it to the Central Parliamentary Board for further discussion and deliberation and final selection.
