Mysore:
Former Karnataka Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy on Monday hit back at Union Home Minister Amit Shah, saying it was the “beginning of the end” of the BJP in the state. His remarks came after Mr. Shah’s remarks about the former chief minister and his family.
Shah had said on Monday, “Karnataka will become a family ATM if the JD(S) comes to power.”
Mr. Kumaraswamy also questioned Mr. Shah’s son Jay Shah’s eligibility to become the secretary of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
“Amit Shah’s games don’t work in front of me. Amit Shah is not even equal to HD Deve Gowda’s toenails,” the former chief minister told reporters.
He said, “During the Mandya yatra, he (Amit Shah) made many allegations against us, which are dirty.”
The former chief minister was incensed by Mr Shah’s statement that if the JDS wins, it will become the family’s ATM. “I replied to the Home Minister’s statement. But he did not answer the questions I asked.”
He challenged Shah to prove to the people of the state that the country’s money has not been misused in any form in the form of ATMs.
“Entire Karnataka is ATM for BJP. Percent business is going on everywhere. 40 per cent business is known to the whole world. Amit Shah doesn’t know this?” The former Chief Minister sarcastically.
Talking about Jay Shah, he asked, “He is in the Indian Cricket Board. What was his contribution to cricket?”
He insisted that Mr. Shah should tell the country what qualifies his son to be the BCCI secretary.
Karnataka assembly elections are due this year.
