Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday said that the Modi government has a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism, and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir has greatly improved, adding that “we should not be complacent until complete peace is achieved”. Goes.”

Mr Shah, who extended his three-day visit to Jammu and Kashmir, stayed for the night at the CRPF compound in Lethpora in Pulwama where 40 paramilitary personnel were killed in a suicide car bomb attack by Pakistan-sponsored terrorists in February 2019.

Addressing the security personnel at the CRPF premises, Shah said, “I want to spend a night with you guys and understand your problems.” This was her “most important” engagement during her visit to the Union Territory.

Mr Shah said the law and order situation in Jammu and Kashmir has improved a lot, adding that he was hopeful that “we will be able to realize a peaceful Jammu and Kashmir as envisaged by Prime Minister Modi in his lifetime”.

He said, “Stone pelting incidents are seen only when we try to trace them. There was a time when stone pelting was common in Kashmir. Such incidents have come down to a great extent. But, I want to say that its there’s no need.” Satisfied,” said Shah.

He said, “Narendra Modi government has a zero tolerance policy towards terrorism. We cannot tolerate it. It is against humanity. It should be our priority to save the people of Kashmir from those involved in this heinous crime against humanity.” ” .

The Home Minister expressed his gratitude to the CRPF and other security forces for ensuring that there was no bloodshed after the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.

“On the development front, several changes are taking place in the infrastructure, industrial and education sectors as the Army and the CRPF are ensuring that all sinister designs are foiled,” Shah said.

He said that when Articles 370 and 35A were removed, there were many apprehensions that “there will be a major backlash”.

“It was also possible that there might have been bloodshed, but today I am here to tell you and freely tell you that not a single bullet was fired because of your alertness. It is a big deal for us.

“The vigil with which 28,000 jawans and JK policemen also worked after taking a big decision in the interest of national and Jammu and Kashmir, did not shed any blood and a new era of development started in Kashmir,” he said. said.

He said that its effect is visible in the fact that now a medical college will be built at a cost of Rs 2000 crore in Pulwama, which is famous all over the country and the world for the terrorist attack on CRPF.

Shri Shah said that during 2004-14, an average of 208 civilians and 105 security personnel were killed every year, but in the period 2014-21, it has come down to 60 personnel and 30 civilians per year.

However, he asked why even 30 civilians lose their lives in terror incidents.

Shri Shah said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have accepted the decision to abrogate Article 370.

“All the forces here have handled the law and order situation properly. So, as the home minister of the country, I thank you for the good work,” he said.

Shri Shah said that when Modi’s dream of development in Jammu and Kashmir is successfully fulfilled, there will be peace.

“And I believe we will only see it in our lifetime,” he said.

“Jammu and Kashmir is an example of the fact that if we are able to provide a secure environment and democracy at the grassroots level, then anything can be achieved,” the minister said, adding that the development in Jammu and Kashmir is proceeding at a double pace. is growing.

Mr Shah said that India, which was ranked 11th in 2014, will soon be a major economic power.

“Today we are in sixth place and I am confident that by 2024 we will reach third place,” he said.

The Union Minister said it was an honor for him to spend a night with the CRPF jawans in the campus in Pulwama.
