Amravati rain: IMD issues weather warning for next 5 days

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a meteorological advisory for the city of Amaravati in Andhra Pradesh. IMD has predicted light to moderate rain for the next five days.

For the next three days, IMD has predicted thunderstorm accompanied with lightning and heavy rain at isolated places over Rayalaseema region as well as NCAP and Yanam, SCAP and Rayalaseema.

Parts of the national capital continued to receive heavy rains on Saturday as well.

In Delhi, SFD, Lodhi Road and Aynagar have recorded 74.3 mm, 87.2 mm and 85.2 mm of rain, respectively. In addition, 60 and 64 mm were reported in Delhi Ridge and Palam respectively.

According to the weather forecasting agency, the rain recorded today is not record-breaking in terms of daily 24-hour rainfall volume for the month of October.

The IMD has predicted light to moderate rain in the national capital on Sunday.

The IMD said that the national capital would not receive significant rain from October 10, although there could be drizzle or light rain.

Speaking to ANI, RK Jenamani, IMD scientist said, “As per the latest analysis, rainfall activity is occurring over North India due to the interaction between the Western Disturbance which lies over the middle and upper troposphere and the lower level. Cyclonic circulation over Gujarat region and moisture from there as wind is moving towards Uttar Pradesh, Delhi-NCR region and East Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh.

If we see rain activity till 8:50 am, then mainly UP and MP, Gujarat and Konkan region received heavy to heavy rain.”
