Anantapur Police have registered 982 cases against Motor Vehicles Act violations in a span of 24 hours ending Sunday morning (December 8, 2024.) Police have also registered 45 cases against those consuming alcohol in public places and five drunken driving cases.
On the instructions of the Superintendent of Police P. Jagadeesh, police personnel took up extensive vehicle checking from late night to early morning hours and registered the 982 cases and collected ₹2.21 lakh as fine. Autos, two-wheelers and cars were checked as part of visible policing and lorry and heavy vehicle drivers were asked to drive cautiously to avoid accidents.
Police have also conducted checks at 154 ATM centres and arrested a matka organiser and seized ₹1 lakh from him.
