We are not going to repeat the mistake of centralizing development in one particular sector, reiterates Energy Minister

Energy, Forest and Mines Minister Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy on Sunday reiterated that the YSRCP government is committed to setting up three capitals to facilitate decentralization of development in Rayalaseema, Coastal Andhra and North Andhra regions.

Addressing the media here on Sunday, Sri Ramachandra Reddy, who was on a visit to Chittoor assembly constituency to inaugurate several schemes, said that the people of the state are in favor of three capitals.

“In the past, development was concentrated in Hyderabad, which caused huge losses to the rest of the state of Andhra Pradesh post bifurcation. We are not going to repeat the mistake of centralizing development in one particular region,” the minister said.

Many areas in Rayalaseema and northern Andhra regions were still undeveloped, he observed. “We want to set up judicial capital in Kurnool, legislative capital in Amaravati and executive capital in Visakhapatnam to develop all regions equally,” he said.

dig in naidu

TDP national president N. Taking a dig at Chandrababu Naidu, the minister said that projecting Amaravati as the sole capital was unfair on the part of some people.

“Their concern is to protect their real estate businesses. They fear that the prices of thousands of acres of land looted by them will come down,” said Mr. Ramachandra Reddy.
