The Andhra Pradesh High Court will be built atop the Jagannath Gutta Hill in Kurnool, Finance Minister Buggana Rajendranath Reddy announced at the Rayalaseema roar organized by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of lawyers and students at STBC Degree College here on December 5 (Monday). ,

The event was organized with the support of the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) to promote the state government’s plan of decentralized development by setting up three capitals in the state.

Highlighting the need to set up the judicial capital at Kurnool and shift the Andhra Pradesh High Court to the city, several ministers praised Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s three-capital initiative. To oppose the move, he urged TDP national president and former chief minister N. Chandrababu Naidu was also targeted. However, no one said anything about the government’s intention to complete the irrigation projects.

“We remain committed to the ideas envisaged in the Sri Bagh Pact, 1937, by bringing the judicial capital to Kurnool and establishing the National Law University here. But, Mr. Naidu does not want the Andhra Pradesh High Court to come here,” said Mr. Rajendranath Reddy.

The Finance Minister questioned Mr. Naidu about the incomplete Hundri-Niva Sujala Sravanti, attributing it to the meager allocation of funds during the TDP regime, and the lack of road projects or bringing industries to Rayalaseema districts.

“The Justice Srikrishna Committee, the Sivaramakrishnan Committee or the AP Reorganization Act, all advocate decentralized development. It is also in line with the agreements made during the Shri Bagh Pact, Gentlemen’s Agreement and the Six-Point Formula. Therefore, the YSRCP government has decided to shift the High Court to Kurnool and establish the judicial capital here,” he said.

Ministers Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, Usha Sricharan and G. Jayaram reiterated the government’s commitment to ‘develop Amaravati, Visakhapatnam and Kurnool on an equal footing’.

Shri Ramachandra Reddy termed Shri Naidu as ‘Rayalaseema Drohi’ (traitor of Rayalaseema) and thanked the people for supporting the YSRCP government by participating in the Rayalaseema Roar in large numbers.

Deputy Chief Minister Amjad Basha, Hindupur MP Gorantla Madhav, Kurnool MP Sanjeev Kumar, MLAs Hafeez Khan, Ananth Venkatarami Reddy, Katasani Rambhupal Reddy and others also spoke during the programme. The meeting was attended by all the 26 Ministers, MPs and MLAs from Rayalaseema districts.
