Minister Dharmana Prasad Rao held the first meeting of the District Development Review Committee
Revenue, Ticketing and Registration Minister Dharmana Prasad Rao has said that Guntur district, though shrunk in size after the formation of new districts, offers tremendous opportunities for growth and development.
The minister was addressing the first District Development Review Committee meeting on Wednesday, where the legislators raised issues related to supply of fertilisers, construction of permanent buildings of Rythu Bharosa centers and providing loans to tenants. He asked the Agriculture Department to ensure that the fields are prepared before releasing the water on June 10.
MLC Dokka Manikya Var Prasad Rao underlined the need for giving more credit to the tenant farmers. “A lot of cultivators belonging to BC, SC and ST communities are taking up farming in the Krishna Western Delta region and this is part of a tremendous social change. Our government should encourage tenant farmers in a big way and empower them financially,” said Mr. Manikya Var Prasad.
Mangalagiri MLA Alla Ramakrishna Reddy said the sale of fertilizers was rampant in Guntur district and asked the officials to put a tight check on them. He also asked the district administration to complete the construction of permanent buildings for Rythu Bharosa centres.
District Collector M. Venugopal Reddy said that a time bound program would be given to all the elected representatives on the progress of various developmental activities.
