Nearly 13 months after a 20-year-old woman went missing from the Annavaram police station limits of Chintapalli mandal, police have concluded that she was murdered and two, including a woman, accused of her alleged involvement in the case. People have also been arrested. Alluri Sitarama Raju district on Thursday.
According to the police, the woman was murdered by her fiancé along with his girlfriend, who wanted to get rid of him, as they were in a relationship.
The arrested people have been identified as K.K. of Chittamputtu village. Lakshmi (20), Lavavasingi panchayat of G. Madugula mandal, and V. Gopal (21) of Sampangiputtu village of Kudumasari panchayat of Chintapalli mandal.
According to Annavaram police station sub-inspector P. Sai Kumar, the family members of 20-year-old Cha Kanthamma of Sampangiputtu village had decided to marry Gopal to her in 2021. But Gopal was already in a relationship with Lakshmi.
Lakshmi who was unable to digest the fact that her lover was going to marry another woman threatened him that she would end his life and wrote a suicide note mentioning her name. The two then decided to end Kanthamma to continue their relationship.
On September 10, 2021, the day of Ganesh Puja, Lakshmi reportedly went to Kanthamma’s house and told her that there would be no problems in their married life. He had reportedly asked Kanthamma to drop him at his house as he had to go alone. Kanthamma reportedly accompanied Lakshmi to her house in Chittamputtu village. After reaching her home, Lakshmi allegedly attacked Kanthamma with an ax, which she had already arranged with Gopal’s help. As Kanthamma raised an alarm, Gopal who was waiting outside reportedly reached inside and helped Lakshmi kill the woman. After the murder, both had buried the dead body near the house. Kanthamma’s family members then lodged a missing complaint with the Annavaram police in which they also named Lakshmi as a suspect. However, there was no further development in the matter.
Almost a year later, the Annavaram police, led by Sub-Inspector P. Sai Kumar, investigated and once again investigated the suspects, and after questioning, the police confirmed the role of Lakshmi and Gopal. Both have been arrested and sent on remand.
In the presence of the local district administration staff, the police retrieved Kanthamma’s body.
