Anil Agarwal Foundation ensures education for children during pandemic – Times of India

New Delhi: The Anil Agarwal Foundation, the philanthropic arm of mining company Vedanta Group, directly impacted the education of over 4 lakh children during the pandemic.

Through its project e-Kaksha, Vedanta collaborated with the Government of Rajasthan to develop e-content for Hindi medium schools, providing free and quality education through digital platforms and offline desktop applications. This ensured continuity in education for 2.68 lakh students of government schools during the pandemic.

As part of its flagship social initiative, Project Nandghar Foundation partnered with the Ministry of Women and Child Development to provide e-learning content through WhatsApp and IVRS; Supplementary nutrition in the form of dry take home ration to its beneficiaries along with telemedicine helpline during the pandemic. Presently, there are over 2,700 Nandaghars in 12 states across India reaching over one lakh children.

“A good education and a nutritious diet are essential for the future of children. On Children’s Day, let us pledge to support the efforts being made by the government. Our Nandghar initiative is affecting more than one lakh children and Anganwadi India is rebuilding the network,” Vedanta Group Chairman Anil said on the occasion of Children’s Day.

Agarwal also stressed on the importance of education and holistic development of the child. In the wake of the pandemic that has unprecedentedly disrupted the learning experience of crores of children across the country, Vedanta seeks to implement alternative teaching methods to ensure that no child loses their education.

Vedanta not only curated the content but also provided it. The employees of Vedanta also ventured into the field by providing free education with special focus on developing arithmetic and linguistic skills of children under their Project Connect.

Vedanta also ensured that children with special needs do not miss out on their educational journey by organizing virtual sessions on Indian Sign Language for hearing and visually impaired children through Project Jeevantrang.

The company has spent Rs 331 crore in the last financial year on various CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) activities, including pandemic relief works, children’s well-being and education, women empowerment, health care, sustainable agriculture and animal welfare, market related skills has been focused. of youth, environmental protection and restoration, development of community infrastructure among others.

As part of its several interventions, Vedanta also contributed Rs 201 crore to the fight against COVID-19, including a donation of Rs 101 crore to the PM-CARES Fund and support for supporting communities, daily wage workers, preventive health care and welfare.
