Anil Kapoor shared a rare old picture of himself with the star on his Twitter handle. Describing him as his childhood idol, Kapoor wrote, “Sydney Poitier, my childhood idol, lifelong inspiration and star of some of my favorite movies… your forever fan and admirer… Rest in Peace.”

Anupam Kher remembered Poitier with a picture from their 2013 meeting and shared, “I had the honor of meeting the legendary actor #SidneyPoitier in early 2013. He was gentle, kind and generous with his time for me. We talked about Indian cinema. He was especially happy to learn that I had an acting school.
