JSP Political Affairs Committee President Nadendla Manohar said the state was heavily indebted and the environment was hostile for entrepreneurs to invest. He wanted to know if the government’s claims of doing wonders on the industrial front were true then why the proposed Cuddapah steel plant was not even mentioned in the latest cabinet meeting.
He also questioned why the allotment of two commercial berths at the upcoming Ramayanapatnam port to Jindal, apart from land at Ramayapatnam and Kavali, was not disclosed if there was no secret about it.
Addressing the media here on Monday, Mr. Manohar said that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy messed up the capital city of Amaravati and took policy decisions that ruined the state at a time when it should seek from all quarters to address the effects of Partition. Support was needed.
He wondered if the government was serious about promoting the port city as a global investment destination then why two lakh square feet of office space was lying vacant in Visakhapatnam.
Besides, he said people could not understand why IT major Infosys remained a non-starter in Visakhapatnam, which was being projected as the future capital of Andhra Pradesh. The government should explain why many IT companies wanting to open their offices in Visakhapatnam chose other cities. Overall, law and order in the state was fragile and a political crisis loomed as the CM sought to stamp out opposition parties.
