Apple will launch airpods pro 2 in the third quarter of next year, according to a new rumor by tipster FronTron. The tipster revises his previous claim that the tech giant will launch the next generation AirPods Pro in the second quarter of 2022. The leaker now claims that the earbuds will be launched a quarter later. FronTron has told MacRumors that it has received information from the supply chain and is based on the same source that correctly predicted the launch of the AirPods 3.
Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman and Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo had also previously reported that Apple is working on a second generation AirPods Pro to follow the AirPods 3. According to Mark, the upcoming AirPods Pro 2 will be much more compact than the existing AirPods Pro. The company aims to get rid of the small stem protruding from the bottom. Mark further explained that getting the AirPods Pro’s hardware into a smaller chassis has proved difficult.
According to a report released in May, Apple’s second-generation AirPods Pro will sport updated motion sensors with a focus on fitness tracking. Considering the recently launched AirPods 3, other features visible on AirPods Pro 2 include MagSafe charging case, IPX-4 rated water resistance as well as skin-detect sensor.
Apple is also reportedly working on AirPods with various health features including posture and body temperature monitoring. In addition, the AirPods will also have the ability to act as a hearing aid, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal. The claims are based on documents showing a prototype of these earbuds with temperature sensors that monitor the wearer’s core body temperature from inside the ear. It is also said that the earbuds use motion sensors to monitor the wearer’s posture and notify them if their body is tilting.
