Gurugram-based NGO Lotus Petal Foundation has invited applications for the second Winnie Sun scholarship program for girl students, especially from weaker economic groups, who wish to pursue higher education in the fields of medicine, engineering, nursing and pharmacy. The last date to apply for the scholarship program is January 31.
Under the scholarship, the foundation will provide financial assistance to girl students from families where the combined family income is less than five lakh per annum. A scholarship amount of up to Rs 65,000 per annum will be given to the student during the duration of the academic course, which will cover the student’s expenses, which will include fees, cost of living and travel.
Winnie Sun Scholarship: Eligibility
Candidates above 18 years of age can register themselves on the official website.
To be eligible for this scholarship, students belonging to unreserved category must have passed class 10 and 12 with at least 70 percentile from a recognized state or central board, whereas students belonging to reserved category (SC, ST and OBC) must should have. Got 60 percent in class 10 and 12.

The scholarship will be awarded to the students who plan to take admission in any government college for Medical (MBBS/BDS), Engineering, Nursing and Pharmacy, which is recognized by the Central or State Educational Department.
Last year, 25 scholars were selected from eight states out of 138 applicants for three professional courses in engineering, medicine and allied subjects. This scholarship has helped students get admission in leading universities like Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Birla Institute of Technology, and Indian Maritime University, claims the foundation.
