Approval of project proposals for over 60,000 houses under PMAY(U): Government

The Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs on Tuesday said that project proposals of over 60,000 houses have been approved for construction under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) in Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Himachal Pradesh, Karnataka and Rajasthan.

Earlier this month, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had announced the allocation of 48,000 crore to build eight million houses. The government had earlier announced that ‘pucca’ houses would be provided to all Indians by 2024.

“The total number of houses sanctioned under PMAY(U) is now 114.04 lakh, of which around 93.25 lakh are on land for construction and about 54.78 lakh have been completed and distributed to the beneficiaries,” the ministry said. he said.

The government further stated that the total investment under the mission is 7.52 lakh crore, with central assistance of 1.87 lakh crore so far, central assistance amount 1.21 lakh crores have already been released.

During the 58th meeting of the Central Sanctioning and Monitoring Committee (CSMC), Manoj Joshi, Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs discussed the issues related to the grounding and construction of houses in different states under the various verticals of PMAY(U). Ministry statement.

“He reviewed the pace of completion of houses in the states and directed the officials to expedite the process and in the meantime also evaluate the beneficiary allocation and completion of Affordable Housing (AHP) projects in partnership in their respective sectors,” The statement further read.
