The work and life of agricultural scientist MS Swaminathan for over 80 years has been archived and made public through the Archives at the National Center for Biological Sciences (NCBS) in Bengaluru in the form of ‘The MSS Papers’.

During the recently held launch, former Principal Scientific Adviser to the Government of India K. Vijay Raghavan, ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute director Ashok Kumar Singh and The Hindu Group director N. Dignitaries including Ram spoke about this. Roles of MS Swaminathan (MSS) as Plant Geneticist, Agricultural Scientist, Humanist, Communicator and Institution Builder.

‘The MSS Papers’, containing over 48,000 items, has been made possible with the support of trustees from TNQ Technologies and MS Swaminathan Research Foundation, a press release said.

The collection is housed in the Archives at NCBS, a public archives center for the history of science in contemporary India, and is organized in two accession groups and nine series. They are in the form of research notes, correspondence, hitherto unpublished writings, media clippings, photographs, published works and administrative notes of dozens of institutions and committees, and with material dating back to the early 1930s. The collection is available for public research and requests.
