Jammu: An army officer and a jawan were killed in a mine blast near a forward post along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district late on Saturday night.
Confirming the death of two persons, Jammu-based defense spokesperson Lt Col Devendra Anand said, “During a field domination patrol along the Line of Control in Lam sector of Nowshera, a mine explosion occurred in which two soldiers sustained serious injuries and later He died in me.”

The deceased have been identified as Lieutenant Rishi Kumar, resident of Begusarai in Bihar and Sepoy Manjit Singh of Sirvewala in Bathinda district of Punjab. Lt Col Anand said that another soldier who was injured in the blast has been evacuated and is undergoing treatment.
“Lt Rishi Kumar and Sepoy Manjit were brave and highly committed to the profession of soldiers and made the supreme sacrifice for the nation in the line of active duty,” an army spokesperson said.
