A Noida resident has been arrested for allegedly duping people by showing photoshopped pictures of ministers, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on social media. Police officials gave this information on Thursday.
Officials said that the accused duped people on the pretext of getting them tenders and government jobs by claiming to have contacts with top officials and ministers.
The accused has been identified as Mohd Kashif (36), who lives in a high-rise society in Sector 107, an official said. He was arrested by the Special Task Force of the UP Police on Wednesday.
The police officer said, “She had posted her morphed pictures on social media, which purportedly showed her interacting with some ministers of the central government and the state government. She had also edited her picture, in which she was seen posing with the PM.” Was seen with Modi.” to be named.
“They used these photographs to establish links with top government officials and ministers and duped people by assuring them of tenders or jobs in government departments,” the official said.
Kashif was arrested by the STF team from Greater Noida on Wednesday. According to the official, the police have seized the Mercedes car used by him and seized three Apple iPhones.
Police said the FIR has been registered under sections 420 (cheating), 467, 468, 471 (all related to forgery) of the Indian Penal Code as well as provisions of the Information Technology Act.
He was produced before a local court on Wednesday and remanded to judicial custody, police said.
