Ever since it was launched in 2020, the online art forum Art Grooves has been hosting exhibitions, art conferences and discussions for the community of artists. It is also working as an online gallery. Founded by Mumbai-based artist Poornima Dayal, Art Grooves now introduces an ‘Artist of the Month’ concept, which will highlight the works of a particular artist in the month. A page will be dedicated to the artist of the month, showcasing 10 selected works and providing links to social media handles of the artists. Viewers can interact with the artist and also buy paintings through the platform.
Poornima says the featured artists will include both established and emerging names. The artist community’s response to this online art group has been encouraging, says Poornima, who has included artists in the ‘Artist of the Month’ series for a year.
The cast included Ambika Kapoor Vij, Sapna Anand, Vasudha Arora, Vedha Sriram, Triveni Mahajan, Ritu Goyal, Karishma Tomar, Piyush Mathur, Poornima Dayal, Kumar Amlendu Pathak, Reena Wal, Priya Bhave, Riya Shah, Poninathan. Huh. Sandhya Jathar, Payal Sarvaiya, Kamini Mishra, Rosetta Luther, Sunil Boukhandi. The current ‘Artist of the Month’ is Aarti Chopra.

Purnima says Art Grooves, conceived during the lockdown months for artists to showcase their work and join in the discussion, has grown in strength in a year’s time. It held its first exhibition in February 2021, featuring 22 artists from across the country. Later in March, it released an e-catalog featuring the works of 12 female artists. “We have had fruitful discussions on the stage so far and the idea is to keep the spirit of art alive in this difficult time,” says Poornima. It will soon include a photography section, and showcase works of prominent photographers in the form of special editions, adds Poornima.
