NCB officer Sameer Wankhede on Thursday filed a petition in the Bombay High Court seeking relief against the probe claiming that he was being personally attacked by the Maharashtra government.
Wankhede told the Bombay High Court, “I am being personally attacked by the state. My apprehension is that the state will arrest me any day. I want interim protection in the form of some coercive relief.”
Wankhede also demanded transfer of the investigation of the case to the CBI or any central agency.
“I am not a drug peddler. I am a zonal director. Give investigation to CBI or NIA, but stop slander. This section especially requires protection of an officer of the central government. The court has to step in for law. And I need to be protected if my rights are likely to be violated,” Wankhede said.
Sameer Wankhede is in the eye of a political storm after allegations of extortion in the high-profile cruise drugs case involving actor Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested. The officers are facing departmental vigilance inquiry.
