India were penalized with a slow over-rate penalty in their first match of the Asia Cup vs Pakistan on Sunday, August 28. Rohit Sharma’s men were forced to field with five fielders inside the circle in the last two overs of the game.
A fast-paced Indian attack bowled exceptionally well to restrict Pakistan to an under-par total, but failed to complete its innings within an hour and a half of the game. The bowlers managed to clear the entire batting order by taking all 10 wickets in the innings in 19.5 overs.
The lack of an extra fielder outside the circle hurt India a bit as they conceded 23 runs in the last two overs of the game but the grand scheme of things didn’t matter much at the time as they managed to wrap up Pakistan. Team for just 147 runs in 19.5 overs.
India is in a better position at this stage. But over rate could be a matter of big concern another day. Could have easily spent another 10 runs
