Taking to his social media handle, state Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma tweeted that the matter of fake news reports would be handled by the Assam Police.
Education Assam Minister, Ranoj Pegu recently issued a clarification regarding reports of another paper leak of the Secondary Education Board, Assam (SEBA) Class 10 or High School Leaving Certificate Examination (HSLC). The Education Minister said on Twitter that the geography question paper being circulated online is fake. Pegu also mentioned that the concerned officer has been directed to register a First Information Report (FIR) regarding the same.
“The Geography question paper circulated allegedly being leaked in social media is fake. SEBA authority has confirmed that it is fake. Instructed the concerned officer to register an FIR at the police station,” tweeted the Assam education minister.

Meanwhile, the state’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also condemned the rumors of leak of Geography exam paper. Sarma tweeted on his social media handle that the matter of fake news reports would be handled by the Assam Police.
Sarma’s post said, “It appears that some group of people are trying to disrupt the entire atmosphere by falsely leaking the question papers of the High School Leaving Certificate Examination.” He also said that the Assam Police would investigate the matter to ascertain the identity of the group or the people involved and take appropriate action.
According to a report in Hindustan Times, the Education Minister of Assam said on Saturday that the pictures of the Assam Class 10 or HSLC Geography paper that are being circulated on social media are of the year 2021 and not the board exam 2023 paper. After two cases of Class 10 paper leak surfaced, the Assam government is probing all the suspects involved in the paper leak this year.
A few days ago, the General Science exam for class 10 was canceled by SEBA after it was discovered that General Science question papers were sold for up to Rs 3,000 on WhatsApp. Earlier, the Assam Board also canceled the Assamese paper for the same reason.
As per the official SEBA HSLC timetable, the Geography exam is scheduled to be held today, March 20.
