The candidates fielded by the NPP are Sapam Kanglipal Meitei from Lamalai, Yumkhaibam Erabot from Wangkhei and M Rameshwar Singh from Kaking. The NCP announced candidates for five seats – George T Haokip in Saikot, Poonam Rani Wangkhem in Khetigao, Khuraijam Ratankumar Singh in Khurai, Oinam Haridas Singh in Wangkhem and Mohammad Islamuddin Khan in Keirao.
Shiv Sena released its third list of four candidates- RK Suraj Singh from Yeskul, Furitsabam Shyomo from Lamsang, RK Bimolchandra from Kumbi and Konsam Michael Singh from Thoubal. Shiv Sena has so far fielded its candidates on 12 seats in Manipur.
The KPA announced two candidates – Kimneo Hangshing in Saikul and Chinlunthang Zoo in Singhat. Polling in the 60-member Manipur Assembly will be held on February 27 and March 3. Counting of votes will take place on March 10.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address two digital rallies in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh on February 4, the BJP said on Thursday. The party said that in the rally for Uttar Pradesh, Modi will digitally address the assembly constituencies of Meerut, Noida, Ghaziabad, Aligarh and Hapur districts.
Similarly, in the rally for Uttarakhand, he will address Almora, Pithoragarh, Bageshwar and Champawat assembly constituencies. This will be Modi’s second set of digital rallies, with the first on January 31.
Party sources said Modi may also digitally address political rallies in Punjab later. The first phase of assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh is on February 10, and the second and third phases are on February 14 and 20.
Voting will be held in the first three phases in most of the seats in western Uttar Pradesh. Polling will be held in total seven phases in the state. Elections in Uttarakhand will be held on February 14. The Election Commission has so far not allowed full-scale physical rallies, and only allowed public gatherings with a cap of 1,000 people.
