Assembly election results 2022: Counting of votes continues in 5 states

The results of the assembly elections 2022 of Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Goa and Manipur will be declared today (March 10) with the counting of votes beginning at 8 am.

Elections were held in 690 assembly constituencies in the above five states.

Counting of votes began at 8 am through postal ballot. Counting of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) will start at 8.30 am.

According to the Election Commission (EC), 671 counting observers, 130 police observers and 10 special observers will be deployed on the ground to ensure smooth counting process. The commission has also deputed two special officers- CEO Delhi to Meerut and CEO Bihar to Varanasi to oversee the counting system. The Election Commission said all strong rooms, where polling EVMs are kept, are under three-tier security with an inner cordon operated by the central armed forces. , The concerned candidates are keeping an eye on the arrangement of the strong room through CCTV round the clock. In the polling states, the district administration has imposed section 144 of CrPC around the counting hall to ensure that peace and tranquility is not disturbed. After each round of counting, tabulation of results will be done in a prescribed format. It will be signed by the RO and the Observer and a copy will be shared with the candidates. After the declaration of result round-wise, the next round of counting will be done as per the extant instructions. The result of postal ballot will also be shared in the prescribed format after obtaining the signatures of the agents of the candidates. Assembly elections were held in Uttar Pradesh in seven phases from February 10 to March 7. Goa and Uttarakhand went to the polls on February 14. Assembly elections were held in Punjab on February 20. Assembly elections in Manipur were held in two phases on February 28 and March 5. Out of these five states, BJP is in power in four states including Uttar Pradesh. , Manipur, Goa and Uttarakhand. Apart from this, there is a Congress government in Punjab. In the 403-member Uttar Pradesh Assembly, the majority mark stands at 202 and exit polls have predicted that the BJP is set to comfortably return to power for an unprecedented second term along with its allies. He says the party’s numbers in the 2017 elections will be less than when it had won a landslide victory.
