ASSOCHAM names Kulmeet Bawa of SAP as Chairman of National Council on IT, ITeS and Digital Commerce

The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India (ASSOCHAM) has named Kulmeet Bawa, President and MD, SAP Indian Subcontinent as the Chairman of its National Council on IT and ITE and Digital Commerce.

In line with the vision of building a ‘New India’, ASSOCHAM said it was working to drive the four strategic priorities of sustainability, empowerment, entrepreneurship and digitisation.

“The IT and ITeS industry today stands at a turning point with new and emerging technologies playing a vital role in driving India’s digital transformation. Under the leadership of Mr Kulmeet, the council will work together to further strengthen the industry’s global competitiveness and promote its diverse priorities that will help promote India’s inclusive and sustainable socio-economic growth,” the trade body said on Wednesday. The National Council on IT, ITeS and Digital Commerce focuses on formulation of policies and implementation guidelines relating to emerging technologies such as cloud computing, Internet of Things, and primarily accelerating value creation through digital transformation and with a focus on emerging technologies. Assocham said that the council also worked with other stakeholders to integrate efforts related to policy support and thought leadership on cyber-physical systems such as Industry 4.0, logistics, skilling and smart cities.
