75-year-old Usha Chadga has completed her PhD amid the COVID-19 pandemic after retiring as the principal of a school in Kerala. She worked as the principal of Santhana Public School, from where she retired 15 years ago. After that she went to Udupi. During the lockdown, he decided to join a schism taking inspiration from the SMSP Sanskrit College and Madhava philosopher Bananje Govindacharya from the Karnataka State Open University, Mysore.
Perhaps the only woman in the college at that time, she devoted four and a half years of research work to Bananje Govindacharya. “I am indebted to Guru Vidwan Sagari Raghavendra Acharya. For such subjects we cannot depend on the internet. The lockdown came as a blessing as I could have devoted more time to this work,” she told News18.com .
Dr. Usha Chandaga was awarded the PhD degree for her research on the essential evaluation of specific principles of ‘Jivasvabhava Vad’ of ‘Shri Madhvacharya’ and ‘Sarvabd Vachyatva of Vishnu’. He received his degree at the 40th convocation of Mangalore College held on 16 April.
“Apart from the dignitaries present at the convocation, my family, along with my grandchildren, are celebrating my success,” she said.
His doctoral knowledge was Dr. M. Padmanabha Marathe, Director Sri Durga Center of PG Research and Analysis in Sanskrit, Kateel. In recent times only women candidates are learning Vedic subjects in Sanskrit.
