Ather Energy has introduced its next generation of public fast-charging solutions with Ather Grid 2.0. The new generation of fast-charging solutions will be able to support future fast-charging capability as well as security and faster bug fixes, the company announced. NS anther Grid 2.0 will support over-the-air (OTA) updates, which will help Indian EV start-ups bring new features and fix bugs in real-time. The company also said that it has improved the durability of public fast-charging infrastructure and is designed to handle degradation, which will make it more suitable for installation in extreme environmental conditions. Ather Grid 2.0 is being installed first in Bengaluru and Chennai, and will soon be available in other cities across the country.

Speaking on the development, Nilay Chandra, VP – Charging Infrastructure & Marketing, Ather Energy said, “At Ather Energy, we are focused on continuously evolving and delivering the best customer experience. With the launch of Ather Grid 2.0, We will be able to rapidly track our ambition of setting up 500 fast-charging infrastructures by the end of this year. Our charging infrastructure will be available to all players who adopt the connector standard and we are in talks with multiple partners for this. For us, this marks the beginning of the expansion of the Ather Grid network, and making the charging infrastructure convenient and easily accessible to consumers is critical to driving the adoption of electric vehicles.”

The second generation fast-charging solution is based on the original Ather Grid. The new solution will be connected at all times and will provide real-time availability of all charging locations in every city. Ather’s charging grid network now spans over 21 cities and over 215 locations. The company aims to connect around 500 Ather grid locations by the end of the 2022 fiscal year. The new installations will be Ather Grid 2.0, the company confirmed. The rapid charging network will be available to all electric two-wheelers and four-wheelers and will be free to use till the end of December 2021.
