Australian PM arrives in India to toss with Modi in 4th India-Australia Test

On 8 March, after arriving in Ahmedabad on his first visit to India, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese visited the Sabarmati Ashram and paid his respects to the ‘Father of the Nation’. Albanese landed at Ahmedabad’s Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel airport and went straight to the ashram, a place closely associated with Mahatma Gandhi.

Later in the evening, the Australian PM will attend the Holi program at Raj Bhavan. According to the information, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will reach Ahmedabad at around 8 pm on Wednesday night.

According to officials, the toss of the two Prime Ministers will be held on Thursday for the fourth and final Test of the ongoing series between India and Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.

In a radio interview with Nova 93.7 Perth ahead of his trip to India, Albanese confirmed to hosts Nat Locke and Shaun McManus that he and PM Modi will toss for the Ahmedabad Test.

“There’s a lot of pressure on me and Prime Minister Modi flipping the coin,” read a transcript of Albanese’s radio interview on the PM’s official website.

Ahead of the final Test, banners featuring Prime Minister Modi and his Australian counterpart have been put up at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Currently, India are leading the series 2-1 but the hosts need to get an outright win in the final Test to qualify for the final of the ICC World Test Championship.

According to official details, Prime Minister Modi and his Australian counterpart will hold the annual summit to discuss regional and global issues of mutual interest as well as areas of cooperation under the India-Australia Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
