To celebrate our new trade deal with India, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison cooked Khichdi, which is apparently Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s favorite dish.
Morrison posted on his official Instagram handle on Saturday, “To celebrate our new trade deal with India, the curries I have chosen to cook for tonight are all from my dear Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Gujarat province. including his favorite khichdi.”
“Jane, the girls and the mother are all accepting,” he said, referring to his family. The post along with a picture has already garnered over 11k likes and over 800 comments.
On several occasions, PM Modi has expressed his love for the humble khichdi, a traditional Indian dish made of rice, lentils, vegetables and ghee kernels, and said that he loves to cook it.
The India-Australia Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement was signed by Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal and Australian Trade, Tourism and Investment Minister Dan Tehan earlier this month at a virtual ceremony in the presence of Prime Minister Modi and his Australian counterpart Morrison.
Prime Minister Modi had said, “This is indeed an important moment for India-Australia relations.”
Morrison said the agreement would further deepen Australia’s close ties with India.
Goyal said the agreement will help increase bilateral trade from $27 billion to $45-50 billion in the next five years.
Australia is India’s 17th largest trading partner, while New Delhi is Canberra’s 9th largest.
