Baba Ramdev assured Delhi High Court to remove all ‘Sharbat Jihad’ advertisements

New Delhi: Yoga Guru, Baba Ramdev, on Monday assured the Delhi High Court that all videos and social media posts which would include their controversial “Sharbat Jihad” comments.

This assurance comes in response to a legal suit filed by Hamdard, who is the creator of the popular drink Roh Eafa, who objected to Ramdev’s statements.

After Ramdev, a controversy arose in a video, allegedly Hamard accused of using his profits, referring to the drinks as part of a so -called “Sharbat Jihad”, to fund the manufacture of mosques and Madrasas.

These comments were widely criticized for their communal undertakings and were understood as an attempt to create a “communal division” by Humdard by dislike their product.

During the hearing, Justice Amit Bansal of the Delhi High Court expressed a strong rejection of the comment and said, “When I saw the advertisement, I could not believe my ears and eyes.”

Senior advocate Rajiv Nair, who represents Patanjali and Baba Ramdev, informed the court that the controversial videos would be removed.

However, the court directed Ramdev to submit an affidavit, stating that he would refrain from making such statements in future. Commenting on the case, the court said, “He can put these ideas in his mind, but should not express them,” because it determines the next hearing for May 1.

The matter highlights increasing concerns over the use of communal rhetoric in public discourse and the ability to harm social harmony.

On 3 April, Baba Ramdev shook the controversy by promoting his company’s product Gullab syrup.

In a video, he allegedly criticized Roh Afza of Hamdard, alleging that the company was removing its funds towards the construction of mosques and Madrasas. Ramdev further referred to the drink as part of “Sharbat Jihad”.

Senior advocates Mukul Rohtgi and Sandeep Sethi represented Hamard as a plaintiff in the case. (AI)
