Badigar Devendra speaks on his next venture, ‘In’

‘Rudri’ director says his second film looks at mental trauma created by pandemic and lockdown

In Badigar is Devendra’s second directorial venture. “The title fascinated me,” Badiger says. “The film not only deals with the character locked in his house but also gives us a glimpse of what is going on in his mind and emotions. This is the story of a lockdown, when the world was under house arrest and our minds played games on us.

Badiger’s first poster was launched In A few days ago at the official residence of Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai. Badiger made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed film Rudri, Pavan Gowda, who played the title role in Rudri, Is part of In Too.

whereas Rudri was about a naive girl in a rural setting, In Focuses on the struggle of girls in the city. The film, says Badiger, has only one character and was shot entirely in his home with minimal staff. “My challenge was how to engage the audience with just one character on screen. The strength of the film lies in the story told from a woman’s perspective, which helps each of us identify with her struggles. ,

By the second lockdown, Badiger says he heard some heartbreaking stories about people’s struggles in cities. “We thread all these real life experiences and In Happened.” In tells the story of a young woman who has everything going for her both career-wise and personally, and how she breaks down when she is locked in her house, Badiger says.

“Suddenly she has to deal with relationship problems, her agony when she cannot meet her parents and trauma when she is not able to pay her EMIs due to loss of salary. While there are many films that have dealt with one or the other aspect of the pandemic and the lockdown, In Shows the very human trauma that people have gone through during those difficult times.”

In Written by Badiger and Shankar Pagoji, produced by Karunakar TN and music by Bharat Naik. ,In It is an offbeat film and we are looking forward to a digital release in January.”
