Varanasi: Commissionerate police caught two Bajrang Dali (BD) office-bearers on Saturday displayed posters with the message that “only Hindus should visit the ghats on the banks of river Ganga”. He was later released on furnishing a personal bond of Rs.5 lakh each.
Police Commissioner A Satish Ganesh said the two persons seen in the photo pasting posters on the ghats have been identified as Rajan. Gupta and shine tripathi, “He was issued notice under 107/16 of CrPC for breach of peace on Friday. Both were brought to the ACP Court in Police Lines, where they submitted personal bonds of Rs 5 lakh each, after which they were released.
During the initial investigation, senior functionaries of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad were asked to clarify the position of Gupta, who introduces himself as the secretary of the city unit. VHP, and Tripathi, who introduces himself as the city convener of Bajrang Dal. With his arrival, a large number of saffron brigade supporters started gathering at the police lines. In view of this, heavy police force was deployed to maintain peace and order.
On January 6, these VHP and BD workers pasted several posters banning entry of non-Hindus on the walls of buildings along the Ganga Ghats. The posters carried the message that those who consider the ghats of the Ganges as picnic spots should stay away from the ghats. mother gangaBecause it is a symbol of Sanatan culture.” Clarifying that it was not a request but a warning, both said that they welcome those who respect Sanatan Dharma.
