Kantaraju is said to have been targeted for joining Hindutva organizations
A Hindutva activist was attacked by a group of people in Shivamogga on Monday night. Kantaraju, a Bajrang Dal worker injured in the incident, has been admitted to McGann Hospital in the city.
Kantaraju was attacked near his house in Rajiv Gandhi Extension around 10.30 pm. The accused allegedly attacked them with deadly weapons. Somehow Kantaraju managed to escape by snatching a weapon from one of the accused.
BJP leaders visited the hospital on Tuesday and inquired about his health. He has suffered injuries on his arm and back. BJP district president TD Meghraj was also among those who met him in the hospital.
Shivamogga SP BM Lakshmi Prasad told presspersons on Tuesday that a group of three to five people attacked Kantaraju. The police have arrested three people so far. Kantaraju is said to have been targeted for joining Hindutva organisations.
The SP said that in the coming days, patrolling has been intensified in the city to avoid such crimes.
