Barcelona reportedly made first official offer for Bayern Munich’s Robert Lewandowski

Barcelona have reportedly made the first official offer for Bayern Munich goalscorer Robert Lewandowski. Along with Lewandowski, the Catalan giants are believed to be interested in signing French defender Jules Conde from Sevilla for La Liga side.

Bayern Munich are looking for more than €40 million for the Polish international, who has already expressed a desire to leave the Bundesliga champions, according to a report published by ESPN. However, it is believed that Barcelona’s opening bid did not meet Bayern’s expectations.

Lewandowski will be out of contract next year but the Bavarian believes the 33-year-old will see the final year on his high-profile contract.

Speaking about Lewandowski’s contract status, Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn recently revealed the club’s stance.

“The situation has not changed,” Kahn was quoted as saying by ESPN.

“Robert has another year’s contract with us and we look forward to meeting him on the first day of the pre-season in July,” the former German goalkeeper said in a presentation to Senegalese striker Sadio Mane on Wednesday.

Relations between Barca and Bayern Munich have stagnated due to the controversy surrounding the failed attempt to launch a European Super League, according to several sources. Notably, the German giants were not part of the proposed competition.

The report published by the same publication claimed that Kan had apparently told Barcelona about the German club’s stance on the issue of being part of the breakaway event. Furthermore, Bayern also questioned Blaugrana’s ability to secure a great deal of this size.

The 33-year-old striker joined Bayern Munich ahead of the 2014 season. So far he has represented Bayern in 375 matches and has scored 344 goals.

In addition to Lewandowski, the Camp Nou-based outfit is preparing to offer to sign Sevilla defender Jules Coundé. Sources believe Barca coach Xavi has made signing the world-class centre-back his top priority this summer.

Chelsea had expressed their interest to join the 23-year-old French defender last season, but Kaunde ultimately decided to continue his stint with Sevilla. He has played 133 matches for the La Liga club so far.
