Before T20 World Cup 2023, Captain Harmanpreet Kaur said, ‘We just want to enjoy our cricket’

As Team India gears up to put up a better show in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, India skipper Harmanpreet Kaur said that she is looking for areas of improvement every day and the team just wants to get there. And wants to enjoy cricket. The runners-up of the previous ICC Women’s T20 World Cup are eyeing a better show in the 2023 edition of the tournament in South Africa. India is placed in Group B along with England, Ireland, Pakistan and West Indies. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals.

Speaking on Star Sports’ show ‘Believe in Blue’, Indian women’s cricket team captain Harmanpreet Kaur further elaborated on how the team is going for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup and how they will be adapting to the conditions in South Africa. “Now we are not thinking about many things, how it will work or not. Harmanpreet will lead India for the third time in a row in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, with Smriti Mandhana as her vice-captain. India were finalists in the last edition of the T20 World Cup in 2020 but faltered at the last hurdle against Australia. Harmanpreet Kaur and the team will not only look to replicate their 2020 performance but also go a step further when they go to South Africa.

“I think, since the last few years we have been travelling, so it won’t make much difference to us. But recently, we had a camp in Bangalore where the ball was good, we trained specially in certain areas which We wanted the job. Before we have the tri-series, in the tri-series, we will have enough time to settle in those conditions,” he said.

Team India gear up for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup with gusto and determination to bring back a coveted ICC trophy to the country, a feat which was recently achieved by the U-19 women’s team in South Africa. With the support of 140 crore Indians, the team will have to be at its best to have a strong run in the competition and a successful campaign.
