Indianapolis-based DroneDeck Corporation, a US firm that designs smart mailboxes for secure drone delivery, has entered into a partnership with Bengaluru-based Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to design, develop and produce smart mailbox units for worldwide distribution. Compromised.
DroneDeck has a first-position patent portfolio for its smart mailbox for receiving and storing drone packages. It is a feature-rich, secure mailbox that accepts deliveries by robotic, unmanned, driverless, aerial drones or conventional methods. DroneDeck will include provisions for receiving or sending food, medicine, groceries or other parcels.
DroneDeck Mailbox will also accept parcels via traditional delivery methods, and is envisioned to become an everyday utility service such as electricity or water. The device is able to keep packages hot or cold, alert users to the arrival of a package, recharge the drone, and also serve as an emergency alert mechanism if needed.
An app controls when the device is opened for delivery or retrieval, and also controls its emergency alarm features.
